Background
A bit about me
My name is Danielle Byers. I studied User Experience Design at Prime Digital Academy in Minneapolis. I have always had a passion for research and design and decided to turn that passion into a career. While I will never lose my love for health and fitness, I now use my skills in research, problem-solving, and program development to help shape people’s lives in a different way.
Education
M.S. in Exercise & Sport Science
I completed both my B.S. and M.S. in Exercise & Sport Science at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. While completing my Master’s I worked as a graduate assistant in the Human Performance Laboratory where I assisted with research and specialized in biomechanics.
I have worked as a fitness professional since 2013. I got my start teaching yoga classes on campus while completing my undergraduate degree. From here I completed multiple internships where I discovered my passion for training athletes as a strength and speed coach.
Ultimate Frisbee
After work activity
One of my biggest passions outside of work is Ultimate Frisbee. I enjoy being a part of a team and having a goal to work and train for.
Minnesota Strike
I play for the Minnesota women’s professional team, Strike, which is an organization focused on visibility through showcasing, supporting, and celebrating elite women ultimate players.
Drag’n Thrust
I have played on the top mixed club team in Minnesota, Minneapolis Drag’N Thrust for the last 3 years. I have also had the honor of Captaining the team for the last 2.
Why the sloth?
Sloths are my favorite animal and light blue is my favorite color so I combined the two into a little buddy to help guide my design journey.
I am all about speed and efficiency, Sloths are my reminder to take a step back and slow down.
It’s also wearing my favorite beanie.
